Sunday, July 24, 2011

Yep, it's true! A feature! Yay! Ok, so I plan to share some family and friends photos from the party, but head over to the Hostess Blog in the meantime to see some of the details of Reeves' 1940's Inspired Coney Island birthday party! I'm still giddy at the thought of being in the company of so many gorgeous parties!

To the ladies over at the Hostess {With the Mostess} Blog, thank you so much for the wonderful feature!

Sunshine in a Box...

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

So going out in tomorrow's mail is a little "pick me up" care package for a very special little girl. Her mom and I are both a part of the MOPS group in our area. I've mentioned before how much MOPS has helped me connect with other moms and what a great outreach it is for us all. Love my MOPS group!

Anyway, this family got the devastating call several weeks ago....the call that their sweet little girl had leukemia. They were immediately rushed to St. Jude and she is now undergoing chemotherapy treatments. I think and pray for this little girl and her family daily now. I can't imagine being in my friend's shoes and getting that call. It greatly reminds me of how often I take good health for granted.... good health not only for my children but for my husband and I as well.

So I thought it might be nice to send some "Sunshine in a Box" to this family while they are undergoing all the necessary treatments and so on. It's not much...a few little packs of treats to tuck in a purse or pocket that might come in handy at the hospital, a little bucket of crafts for Annabelle, some little musical instruments(I thought maybe mom or dad could play a few tunes to lift her spirits during the difficult moments), and a few other little things for mom and dad.
(My apologies for the less than stellar photos here. Unfortunately, while I was sending some sunshine, it was quite dreary-looking here with less than optimal lighting for photos.)

Egg shaker maracas, a little harmonica, punchballs, bubbles, a disney princess pez dispenser, some banana chips...

They had to leave so quickly that I didn't figure they had the time to grab any of Annabelle's bath toys, so I thought a few little rubber duckies might make be kinda nice to have around as well.

I'm thinking and praying for you daily, sweet Annabelle! I look forward to the day when your mom sends the message that the treatments are complete and you're headed back home well!

Headed to curl up with my little boy and be thankful for everyday of good health we have and see it for the blessing it truly is.

Photo Shoot Fit for a Little Princess

Monday, July 18, 2011

A while back Nicola of The Tiny Tiara, based out of Canada, contacted me to see about using my princess tiara photo block in one of her photo shoots to promote her new line of party printables. You know I totally said yes! She owns a company that basically brings the whole girly party to you! They worry with all of the small details so moms and dads can just enjoy the day with their birthday girl. Not only do they come in and set it all up, break it all down when it's over, but a Princess comes out to the party to keep the little ladies entertained. They've got every detail covered at these parties, ladies! All the themes any little girl could want are there, ready to be made into the perfect party.

Anyway, like I mentioned, Nicola is rolling out a brand new line of party printables that lets you download and print out your own custom party paper goods. The guest of honor's name and age can be found on many of the collection printables. So while she's always there to create a party from start to finish, she's now also offering some DIY options as well.

These are a few photos from her shoot that features her Tiny Tiara Printables Collection. Ahhh...boy would I love a pretty pink party like this for my little girl if I had one. sniff sniff.

Can you spot my Princess Photo block in there?

Just in case, here's a refresher on what that cutie looks like in my shop. Ha!

Love her little food labels! So dainty and sweet, right?

Such a pretty little tea party setup! I'd SO love to pull up a chair and enjoy all those yummy looking treats!

You can see much more of the printables from this collection and several other collections over at The Tiny Tiara. If you are in Canada, check out her options for complete party setup. Your little birthday girl will be in absolute heaven!

A Daily Dose of Inspiration

Monday, July 11, 2011

A little of what's inspiring this gal today...

I was up late last night pouring over some yummy finds via etsy so I figured I might as well put together a little sample of it all in a treasury list. I'm in a sunshine state of mind right now. Everything yellow/canary/lemon/banana, whatever you call it, has been seriously catching my eye. Alot of it probably has to do with my son's birthday party from a couple of weekends ago. Whatever the reason, I'm loving this sunny, feel-good hue right now.

So my other love interest this week is glitter! Glitter me this, glitter me that. Glitterguide is a new site that looks really promising and has page after page of visual goodness. Take a look at that glitter dress down there. Ordinarily, I would probably shy away from something so, um, glittery. But how fantastic does this girl look in that dress?? I know, I know...she would look amazing in a paper sack. Us short petite girls can dream we might come close to looking that great in an all sequin frock though, can't we?

"Live each day like it's your birthday"...I like it. Think I'll try that.

Have you ever laid eyes on a more visually perfect cake?? Stop by Sweetapolita's site and you'll find oodles and oodles of gorgeous confections. Oh man, how I like to imagine I'll get THAT good at baking some day. This blog SO inspires me and just plain makes me happy. When she posts a new recipe, it's going to be something amazing....everytime... that, you can take to the bank.

Hope something is bringing you inspiration today.

Our Fourth of July in Pictures

Monday, July 4, 2011

For some crazy reason, I always have really high expectations to do lots of fun stuff on the Fourth of July every year. I'm blaming it mostly on movies like Sleeping with the Enemy when Julia Roberts' character picks those apples off of the love-interest's tree and proceeds to make a picture perfect apple pie and then the two of them have a picnic with all the fixins' in her front yard. Then, like any good romantic drama, the two lovebirds are captured casually swinging together on her front porch swing appearing to not have a care in the world...nevermind her crazy abusive husband is on loose trying to find her.

Anyway....backyard barbeques with friends(for some reason they always have a retro vibe in my mind...weird), swinging on the front porch swing, classic red checkered picnic blankets, sipping sweet tea, watching the kids run around in the sprinkler. These are the things I often associate with our nation's birthday each year. Not all the stuff it probably should be remembered for, I realize, but there it is anyway.

Although we didn't do many of those things on my list this year, we did spend some good time together as a family. We headed downtown to take in the sites and see what we could get into. As it turns out, we didn't get into much though, because apparently all the activity takes place later in the evening, but we had a good time regardless and I enjoyed being with my three best boys.

I hope you had a relaxing, lazy, sit on the porch swing kind of day today.

May I never wake up from the American dream.
